Just finished Emshwiller’s "The Mount" Quite disturbing and powerful. Not sure how I feel about the main character but every character was drawn sympathetically and that admirable. The night before that read Marilynne Robinson’s "Housekeeping." Does this book remind anyone but me of "Lolita"? Probably not. Also reading Marlowe’s "Tamburlaine the Great Pts I & II" which is research for a current writing project. Also working through Christopher Hitchens’ newer book of essays: "Love, Poverty, and War." Can’t wait to get to the Mother Theresa material. Also mostly enjoyed Charles Johnson’s "Dr. King’s Refrigerator" story collection — especially the last story "Kwoon." which immediately goes on my top (pick a number) list of stories I wish I could make everyone read.
